Family: Polygonaceae (Persicaria, Dock family).

Native.

Occurrence: Rare. A record by Ian Higgins from near the Crocodile Reservoir, Fryerstwown. 1993. Most Victorian records are for East Gippsland.

Identification:

  • it is an erect herb
  • it flower stalks rise from a central point (rather like the upturned ribs of an umbrella).
  • Name: umbellata: an umbel is the flower arrangement where the flower stalks rise from a central point.
