Bulbous Meadow-grass - introduced (*Poa bulbosa)

Native to Europe. Perennial. C3.

Family. Poaceae (Grass family).

Moderately common on nature strips, roadside verges and disturbed bushland.

Identification:

• the flowers form an egg-shaped cluster, loosening with age
• the glumes about as long as the lemmas
• the spikelets have 3-6 unawned lemmas which are hairy on the bottom part
• the leaves are flat or folded
• the ligules are membranous and 1-4mm long
• the base of the plant is bulbous.

This is a spring flowering grass with an ovoid flower cluster on an erect stalk.

It is an environmental weed.
