Pink Wood-sorrel - introduced (*Oxalis articulata)

Family: Oxalidaceae (Wood-sorrel family).

Native of South America.

Occurrence: Uncommon. Has been recorded for Taradale and Castlemaine.

Identification:

• it has green, trifoliate (clover-like) leaves
• the five-petalled flowers are pink and in small clusters
• the leaf stalks arise from the base of the plant
• the leaves rise from a woody rhizome which is covered with old leaf-bases
• the tips of the sepals (just below the petals) have orange lumps (calli) at the tips.

This species, unlike Sour-sob, does not produce bulbils.

Similar species: The Large-flower Wood-sorrel has much larger leaves and flowers (to 4 cm wide), and the flowers are not in clusters.
