Common Wedge-pea - native (Gompholobium huegelii)

Family: Fabaceae (Pea family).

Common bushland plant.

Identification:

• it is a small shub
• the trifoliate leaves have very narrow leaflets
• the leaf stalks are very short
• the large pea flowers are a bright yellow colour
• the backs of the petals are a dull, darkish yellow-green.

Elsewhere (e.g. Ballarat and Bendigo), the flowers are a lighter yellow.

Common Wedge-pea. 1, 2: Castlemaine. The bright yellow flowers and narrow leaflets are distictive. 3: Pale flowers from Enfield.
