Fen Sedge - native (Carex gaudichaudiana)

Family: Cyperaceae (Sedge family).

Native of Australia, NZ, New Guinea and Asia.

Occurrence: Uncommon. Along water channels.

Identification:

• the cylindrical flowers are held erect, between the surrounding leaves
• the flower clusters may be male or female
• the male flower clusters are thinner than the female clusters.
